Western Massachusetts

Young people from Western Massachusetts successfully introduced and passed resolutions to lower the voting age to 16 in the towns of Ashfield, Shelburne, and Wendell in 2017, and in Northampton in 2018. Each town or city has approved of the measure on the local level, and now the state legislature must approve their home rule petitions to give the municipalities the authority to implement this change locally.
